Commercial Lines Account Manager-Burmingham, AL

As a Commercial Lines Account Manager for this independent agency in Birmingham you'll work closely with the sales executives to manage a growing book of middle market and risk management accounts.  You'll be directly involved with the clients to deliver on service needs and renewal preparation.  You'll also work with the agency's support resources, from marketing and claims to loss control and employee benefits, to make sure the account's changing exposures are addressed in a timely way.  To be able to handle a larger accounts "soup-to-nuts" it is important that you have experience working for another independent insurance brokerage handling a complex case load.



Commercial Lines Account Manager Responsibilities:

  • Establish solid client relationships and manage the delivery of services along with answering questions from clients about coverage, billing and endorsements.
  • Identify important client needs as well as cross selling opportunities and effectively communicate those needs to the sales team.
  • Coordinate the renewal activity of client accounts like information gathering, rate, pricing negotiations, proposal writing and communications.


Commercial Lines Account Manager Requirements:

  • At least three to five (3-5) years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience in an account management capacity.  Any experience with pre-underwriting and marketing responsibilities will be helpful to stepping into this role.
  • Comfortable in a team setting handling aspects of consulting with the client, from policy reviews to discussion about coverage, renewal pricing and coverage enhancements.
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.
  • Broad proficiency with P&C policies like general liability, property, auto and workers compensation is required. 
  • Experience with billing, customer service calls, policy review, and renewal marketing.
  • Active state insurance license.
