Our client is a regional insurance agency that is poised for growth and seeking the addition of a Marketing and Communications Specialist in their group benefits division for their upcoming client service needs. The ideal candidate will be able to help formulate and then implement a marketing communications program that will support the company’s overall strategy and long-term goals.
Marketing and Communications Specialist Responsibilities:
- Assess the organization, its target customers, competition, the current industry landscape and developing trends.
- Utilize this information to craft the appropriate branding message to be communicated to target audiences.
- Determine which communication methods are necessary to promote the agency’s brand awareness to targeted audiences.
- Maintain the agency website – re-design in terms of content and graphics, and then maintain and update as necessary to ensure the best possible image is presented to visitors to the site (current and prospective customers, employees, and carrier partners).
- Develop marketing collateral for use in promoting the company’s capabilities.
- Maintain responsibility for the company’s logo and overall imaging in all visible forms, including promotional items.
- Create and place advertising in selected publications as deemed appropriate.
- Work with senior management to assess various non-profit organization sponsorship opportunities.
- Manage public relations activities, including the preparation of press releases and serving as company spokesperson when appropriate.
- Work with peers among the agency when their client-facing communications can benefit from the perspective of marketing communications, such as education programs, compliance training, work products (renewal analyses, benefit booklets), customer satisfaction surveys, and newsletters.
- Assess social media opportunities and determine if and how the company will participate in this arena.
Marketing and Communications Specialist Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism, or communications.
- 5-7 years of experience in the field of marketing communications with insurance industry experience a huge plus.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, desktop publishing and website design.
- Exceptional writing skills – must be adept at conveying written messages both effectively and with grammatical accuracy.
