Senior Product Development Specialist-Statewide, CT

In this role, Senior Product Development Specialist your role will be primarily for the product development process; developing strategic plans for entry to new markets; establishing policies to support the development of products, services and/or new programs; conducting market research to identify, analyze and evaluate markets, products or services.

Senior Product Development Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Developing coverage forms, business specifications, filing memoranda, and complex manuscripts.
  • Utilizing product experience, industry knowledge, and competitor assessments, assists in the development of business segment strategies, appetite expansion and new product development.
  • Coverage reformations, claim review, product pricing/rating tools and product training etc.
  • Corresponding with internal business partners as well as external organizations such as NCCI, ISO, State Regulatory Agencies regarding product issues and/or coverage filings.

Senior Product Development Specialist Requirements:
  • Ten (10) or more years of commercial lines Product Development experience.
  • Undergraduate Degree.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical aptitude with proficiency in analyzing data and trends.
  • A deep understanding of commercial forms, rates and rules of General Liability coverage along with policy language, endorsements, related exposures and underwriting guidelines.
  • An understanding of the broader context of the product including the competitive environment, regulatory environment, financials, claims, loss control, audit, and IT.
  • Superior communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively coach, mentor and develop technical skills in less inexperienced staff.
