In this Underwriting role you will apply underwriting principles and guidelines when evaluating disability income and critical illness applications; mentor the underwriting staff , works with the director to develop underwriting policy and underwriting procedures and assist with product development.
Senior Disability Underwriter Responsibilities:
- Evaluates individual applications to apply underwriting principles and guidelines for the issuance of insurance contracts.
- Reviewing applications for verification of necessary underwriting requirements;
- Ensuring appropriate coverage and risk classification of applicants;
- Reviewing requests for possible contractual changes;
- Reviewing substandard cases for possible reduction or removal of ratings; and
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations and product guidelines.
- Communicates with and builds positive relationships with producers.
Senior Disability Underwriter Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
- 10 to 15 or more years disability underwriting experience required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Expert level understanding of underwriting principles and guidelines.
