Account Manager, Employee Benefits-Detroit, MI

Our client is a growing boutique consulting firm that focuses on employee benefits and is looking to facilitate their growth by strategically hiring an Account Manager.  They are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate who is looking for a challenge in an entrepreneurial setting.  The ideal candidate will be willing and able to serve as the primary contact managing client service, communications, regulatory compliance, and vendor service management.

Account Manager, Employee Benefits Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary service liaison between assigned clients and carrier/vendors.
  • Follow meetings with written documentation of action steps, timelines and responsible parties, while also documenting all client and carrier/vendor service interaction.
  • Collaborate with team to achieve timely execution of the renewal calendar.
  • Review and verify accuracy of all client documents including contracts, SPDs, and SBCs.
  • Manage the preparation of employee communication materials, along with participation/conducting open enrollment meetings.
  • Build understanding of all pertinent regulatory compliance including, but not limited to, HIPAA, PPACA, ERISA, FMLA, and COBRA.  Keep informed of current changes to develop a qualified ability to speak to and address client compliance needs.
  • Manage work-in-progress on all assigned case activity, maintaining regular communication with the team regarding open projects, deadlines, and status updates.

Account Director, Employee Benefits Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.
  • 3-5 years minimum experience working with larger health and welfare accounts.
  • State Life and Health license required with industry desigations a plus.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
