Senior Commercial Marketer-Baton Rouge, LA

Our client is a multi-state regional brokerage where collaboration between marketing divisions and sales teams is critical to ensuring the successful acquisition of large risk management accounts. This position, Senior Commercial Marketer, is needed on the heels of an upcoming busy 1/1 renewal season.  It will immediately tackle a large book of new and renewal business with alternative funding and loss sensitive accounts involved. Because of the immediate impact this position makes in the Baton Rouge team the agency requires an individual with retail brokerage placement experience.  Its very conceivable for an individual with the right senior experience this role will be in a position to take on leadership duties that over time may include strategic department design, workflow improvements and staffing initiatives.

Senior Commercial Marketer Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the effective marketing of insurance risks to companies in accordance with the practices, policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Market all lines of commercial insurance and directly impact revenue goals through the acquisition of new business and retention of renewals.
  • Pre-underwrite commercial accounts within insurance company delegated underwriting authority, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Act as account liaison for the producer in dealing with other departments of the agency for quoting of specialized lines of coverage.
  • Effectively build relationships with insurance company underwriters through a pattern of professional risk submissions, visitations and good negotiations.

Senior Commercial Marketer Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of commercial insurance experience heavily involved in placement of business and pricing negotiations; since agency experience is required individuals who have gained this experience in sales or management will be strongly considered.
  • Large account, loss sensitive rating and proposal experience.  Specific industry expertise isn’t required though a lot of these accounts are industrial based like in manufacturing and construction.  Broad knowledge of property and casualty plans is required.
  • Excellent presentation skills; comfortable being out of the office with the sales team to discuss coverage plans with clients.
