Vice President, Senior Commercial Producer-AL

A lot of insurance agencies make the cliche statement, “We’re always looking to hire good producers.” The reality is the very best, most progressive retailers build a business model in the image of national brokerages without losing their regional identity. Capstone’s success in matching experienced insurance producers with this client is because we appreciate at some point it’s not a question of whether a person can sell. Its about bringing together an agency’s business model with a producer’s specialization at the right time for both parties.

In the South we are in a position to introduce you to a retail brokerage client that is aggressively growing in a new way, through the identification and acquisition of experienced specialty producers. The company offers a niche driven model with centralized client service, claims and risk management resources to provide technical support in these verticals. If you’re a producer whose sales success is due to platform specialization we would like to discuss their plans in the following areas:

  • Healthcare/medical malpractice
  • Transportation
  • Energy (oil & gas)
  • Agriculture/agribusiness
  • Real estate
  • Hospitality

Many of these verticals were created because of the ambition of a senior producer. There are opportunities within this company for an incoming producer to create and build a platform. Even if your area of expertise is different from the list above we’d still like to visit with you about a potential match with this client. Please contact Scott Thompson for a confidential conversation.

VP Transportation, Managing Producer - IA, IL, TX

Our client is an independent insurance broker deeply rooted in the Midwest insurance market. The agency has a thriving, diversified approach to servicing the trucking industry. However, as the definition of "transportation" continues to evolve its critical the agency is forward thinking in its development of solutions for large fleets. The resources needed to partner with large transportation, moving and storage, logistics and public auto related risks starts with the addition of a successful producer. This position, Vice President, Transportation Practice Leader, will focus exclusively on growing one segment of the agency's transportation division, its large accounts practice, through your efforts as a managing producer.

Vice President, Transportation Practice Leader Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategies to improve the agency's new business opportunities with large trucking fleets, logistics companies and similar transportation related risks.
Serve as the lead producer on these accounts actively soliciting new business and identifying cross marketing opportunities with the other transportation and commercial risk management producers.
Spearhead program development and marketing relationships with critical national carriers that offer competitive alternative risk finance; be the architect on large deductible, SIR and captive plans.

Vice President, Transportation Practice Leader Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is preferred, commensurate experience will be considered; advanced college education or insurance accreditation (CPCU) is helpful.
At least 7-10 years as a successful commercial insurance broker working on national accounts; must have in-depth knowledge of sophisticated alternative transfer plans, understand the resources necessary to compete on national accounts and plan for a longer sales and marketing cycle.
While experience working directly with transportation and fleet trucking accounts is helpful it’s not required; sales and program development for risks with similar exposures, such as logistics and supply chain management, can translate into this specialization.
Demonstrated ability to lead sales groups by example, achieve sales goals, participate in the agency's growth and geographic expansion

Corporate Loss Control Manager - Greenville, SC

This is a really awesome and unique role.  My client is a well respected carrier that is looking for a really strong loss control manager.  They are an organization that has never had a loss control program and are looking for a seasoned manager that can develop the program soup to nuts.  To clarify they are not looking for a field person, rather they are looking for someone that has a strong home office background that knows how to build and manage a staff and create processes and procedures.  They will pay very competitively for this and assist with relocation.

Corporate Loss Control Manager
This position is a unique opportunity for an innovative and driven risk management professional to establish a new loss control division.  Our client has never before had in-house loss control services, so this position is the ground floor expansion tied to other innovative changes the company is making in commercial insurance underwriting, claims and product innovation.  The company is a reputable commercial insurer focused in the transportation industry.  Most importantly this position, Corporate Loss Control Manager, ensures that high quality loss prevention services are available to the company's agents and insureds particularly on fleet auto risks.  It also works closely with home office underwriting and claims to make recommendations and/or adjustments that improve the profitability of the company.

Account Management- create useful loss control tools from writing manuals to creating execution in the field; monitor the effectiveness of the program's delivery and risk mitigation.
Management- Set up the company's internal infrastructure, from reporting and Best Practices techniques to communication with other business units to the initial advertising about loss control resources to agents.

Bachelor's degree is required.
Extensive education is required in safety, risk management, industrial hygiene and commercial auto regulations (OSHA, DOT, etc.).
At least five years of corporate, home office loss control management experience; commercial auto or related transportation experience is helpful but not required.
A good deal of claims and vendor management experience; ability to understand avoidance of repeat claims issues and maximizing vendor usage.
Business development and marketing minded; can visit on-site with insureds and agents as a representative of the company.
