Our client is a respected leader in providing quality products and service within the insurance industry. They specialize in offering supplemental insurance products that provide coverage which complements an individual’s primary major medical coverage or employer’s primary benefits package. Today, using a model of steady growth, they are expanding into new markets. They currently offer an opportunity to join their growing organization within a leadership position within the Actuarial department. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the company’s actuarial functions. The Chief Actuary will perform highly advanced and/or managerial (senior-level) actuarial work. Work involves directing actuarial functions; developing and implementing improved actuarial policies and procedures; providing actuarial advice and consultation; and reviewing and approving budgets.
Chief Actuary Responsibilities:
- Directs preparation of actuarial reports
- Assesses the impact of existing and proposed legislation or policies on the company’s programs with regard to actuarial matters
- Analyzes technical rate filings
- Reviews annual statement actuarial items, insurance agreements, and mergers.
- Develops formulas, methods, and procedures to document and support actuarial analyses.
- Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others.
Chief Actuary Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years work experience as a credentialed actuary (ASA, FSA)
- Current status as FSA
- Experience with limited benefit health insurance, hospitalization insurance, accident insurance, and disability insurance
- Experience with both group and individual business
- Experience in acquisitions by reinsurance and stock purchase
- Experience in regulatory filings for NY subsidiary
