Assistant Vice President, Product Development-Princeton, NJ

My client offers a portfolio of distinctive specialty products. They provide Accident & Health coverages and other customized insurance solutions. Products are offered through distribution partners, which include wholesale brokers, retail brokers and designated managing general agents/underwriters (MGAs/MGUs) in the U.S. and abroad. Coverages are backed by the financial strength and security of the my client companies, rated “A+” (Superior) by A.M. Best.  They currently offer an opportunity to join their organization in their New Jersey location.  In this role, Assistant Vice President, Product Development, you will lead and execute the full product life cycle, which includes the ability to draft, develop, implement and manage multiple A&H products within the US marketplace. This also includes existing product revisions and enhancements and implementation of services.

Assistant Vice President, Product Development Responsibilities:
  • Full product life cycle of assigned A&H products.  This includes research, design, and development, through to business implementation.  Implementation includes process documentation and training.
  • Develop/Draft Products
  • Ability to research and analyze competitor product offerings
  • New product & existing product enhancements
  • Program business
  • Takeover cases, single cases
  • Full Product Cycle Implementation
  • Create proposals and required issue documentation, system requirements
  • Work with marketing on required collateral
  • Sales/Underwriting communications, including product manuals and training
  • Product Launch
  • Ongoing product maintenance, including implementation of product revisions due to Regulatory/Legislative updates
  • Ability to manage and work with Service Partners, third-party vendors as required for product offering (e.g., Travel Services, Identity Theft, any other services)

Assistant Vice President, Product Development Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least ten years of prior product experience in A&H insurance ideal; experience with health and life products can be considered.
  • Experience with compliance, legal, or form/rate filing a plus.
  • Strong project management skills and strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, including clear and effective communication skills.
