Senior Team Lead Casualty Underwriting-New York, NY

Our client is a reinsurer with worldwide operations. They currently offer an opportunity to join their company in a Senior Team Lead Casualty Underwriting role in their New York location. This position is accountable for driving the underwriting policy and performance, including underwriting quality, appetite guidance and overall execution of the Excess General Liability (GL) lines for large industrial risks (including Energy) using predominantly surplus lines insurance but also reinsurance.

Senior Team Lead Casualty Underwriting Responsibilities:

• Underwriting decisions on client’s largest and most complex accounts.
• Review new and renewal submissions ensuring accuracy and adequacy of data; evaluating risk and account quality, including exposures and loss potentials; pricing accounts, utilizing the pricing models as necessary; and determining acceptable underwriting terms and conditions.
• Perform financial reviews as necessary.
• Prepare clear and concise underwriting information for use in case of referrals.  Establish advanced pricing assumptions to be utilized.  Develop complex rating approaches to be used on business not utilizing the pricing models.
• Communicate quotations, authorizations, declinations and binders to the client and, handle negotiations / changes in the account.

Senior Team Lead Casualty Underwriting Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree required; CPCU or other industry designation preferred.
• Minimum 15+ years’ experience with deep experience in the GL lines for large industrial clients.
• Experience within Facultative reinsurance.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated competency in leadership
• Demonstrated client relationship management skills and influencing skills
• Financial acumen strong analytical skills and aptitude for numerical and/or financial evaluation of business performance
• Excellent communication skills. Experience and comfort level communicating with individuals at all levels.
