Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter - Jackson, MS

The role of Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter is to proactively develop a profitable book of property and casualty business and create strong partnerships with retail insurance agencies.  Our client is a managing general agency with a strong excess and surplus lines platform.  Main street, property and casualty business make up over half of the company's revenue, so you will be stepping into an established underwriting group with the goal of growing premium even further. 


Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter Responsibilities:
You'll be responsible for driving new business production while maintaining a high retention standard.
You'll engage current and prospective retail agents to distribute products and address customer service needs.
Your primary duties will include reviewing submissions, underwriting excess and surplus lines accounts and securing competitive approval from multiple personal lines carriers to present to the retail broker.  Accounts will vary in classes such as contractors, restaurants, habitation and other main street businesses.

Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter Qualifications:
A minimum of 3-5 years of property and casualty underwriting experience; excess and surplus lines exposure is critical. Even more desirable is past work for a managing general agency or with a production underwriting component that required you to produce new business through the retail agency channels. 

Detail oriented; can work with multiple online rating platforms and manage relationships with underwriters.
Ability to build marketing relationships with agencies in a given territory. Some travel.
