Employee Benefits Account Executive - Chicago Suburbs, IL

The role of Group Employee Benefits Account Executive for this independent agency in Chicago is designed to work closely with the Vice President and practice leader to oversee the strategic development of the group benefits division.  Your responsibilities will be much broader than just managing a book of business.  Your hands will be in nearly every account, particularly larger, self-funded insureds, that need solutions for technology implementation and guidance on compliance.   Essentially you'll be the quarterback for all client service related matters and delegate tactical work to the account management team.  This will lead you into handling operational matters within the agency's benefits practice including workflows, employee development and vendor management.

Group Employee Benefits Account Executive Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the management of assigned clients, working closely with the producer and client service team to identify cross selling opportunities, troubleshooting customer service issues, underwriting problems and execution of a written service plan.
  • Monitor the accuracy of detailed financial and claims analysis, compliance and renewal pricing; take the lead on negotiation and plan design with carriers.
  • Set communication and enrollment plans, prepare RFPs and in many instances present a large portion of the renewal details to the client.

Group Employee Benefits Account Executive Qualifications:
  • You offer at least 4-5 years of group benefits account management and/or account executive experience with oversight for more strategic matters related to client consultation, technology implementation and education on healthcare reform matters.
  • Self-funded experience is required as is a propensity to get out of the office and regularly engage with clients face-to-face on purchasing options, plan design, coverage analysis and coverage enhancements.
  • Active state insurance license.
  • Exceptional team leadership skills and strategic plan design and management background.
  • Proficient in all areas of Health & Welfare compliance (HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, 550, DOL, etc.).
