Employee Benefits Account Executive - Fort Smith, AR

The purpose of the Group Employee Benefits Account Executive position is to manage the implementation, service and marketing activities for clients’ and prospects’ employee benefit plans.  This position will oversee and have defined responsibility for the retention and growth of existing clients.  For this insurance agency you will have the ultimate responsibility for the coordination of client support activities from within the account management team.  You’ll be the leader and act as a mentor with the ability to identify talent and when needs arise for improvement.


Group Employee Benefits Account Executive Responsibilities:
  • Maintain overall responsibility for client satisfaction and internal compliance of account management team in addition to maintaining close relationships with all key clients.  Manage team workflow for incoming projects to capitalize on talents and encourage engagement in all special projects, in the interest of identifying career development for subordinates.
  • Oversee communication to clients regarding valuable internal resources available within the agency such as health management, compliance and underwriting. Design, develop, implement, coordinate, conduct, monitor and evaluate plans, pricing, claims history and communication materials for a comprehensive approach to educating employer clients and their employees regarding benefit plans and regulations.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of client service plans; meet with clients to discuss the start of the plans and regularly throughout the year to assess the effectiveness and their satisfaction.  Provide feedback and address areas that need improvement or enhancement with the sales and service teams.
  • Advise on market trends and specific communication tools and ideas with client base.  Delegate creation of these to team staff and monitor effectiveness and use of by client.  Establish and maintain proactive and knowledgeable communication with clients, carriers and vendors as the agency’s senior representative.  Build rapport and strong relationships with external partners taking every opportunity to engage in get involved in industry advisor and association events.
Group Employee Benefits Account Executive Requirements
  • At least ten (10) years of group employee benefits sales, service and/or consulting experience with a complete and thorough understanding of self-funded employee benefits insurance products and concepts.
  • Should be able to use in-depth knowledge of the clients’ business to grow client relationships and use awareness of industry and government guidelines and regulations to better serve the client.  Can seek out additional revenue opportunities within the client base.
  • Must have excellent technical skills and knowledge of business applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including mentorship of junior staff, assessment of workflows and the effectiveness of allocated resources and direct management of underwriting and vendor relationships.
  • State life and health license.
