Employee Benefits Account Executive - Kansas City, MO

This Employee Benefits Account Executive position is a newly created role and could also also be described as a Servicing Producer or Benefits Consultant.  This signals the insurance brokerage's desire to pair a very strong group employee benefits technician alongside a high performing producer to support the strategic and tactical needs of group clients.  Your influence in the team will be a great support system for handling direct client consulting on plan design, rates, renewal preparation, billing, claims and enrollments.  You'll coordinate internal resources to handle the delivery of services to the client.  Ideally you'd also be comfortable picking up new clients through personal business development. 



Group Employee Benefits Account Executive Responsibilities:
Coordinate, develop and execute project plans as well as periodic presentations for specific client groups.
Develop and manage long and short range benefit strategies for clients, foster strong client relationships.
Develop and mentor junior members of the team.
Manage RFP, renewal, and implementation processes.
Benchmark survey data for client plans, summarize and validate reviewed information.
Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Identify and understand negotiable elements of underwriting calculations for all lines of coverage. Exercise peer group and/or management review in this process periodically.
Manage post-implementation process for all lines of coverage.
Contribute toward company sales initiatives and support revenue management.

Group Employee Benefits Account Executive Qualifications:
At least 5-7 years of experience working with group employee benefits cases, preferably in the mid-sized group space but definitely with a firm grasp on self-funding and compliance reform.   

Must offer detailed agency/brokerage experience with a thorough understanding of all benefit plans (medical, dental, life, STD, LTD, etc) design, rate structures, funding alternatives and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication and presentation with advanced writing skills.
Proficient in all areas of Health & Welfare compliance (i.e. HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, 5500, DOL, etc).
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of internal staff & management, external clients, prospects and vendors; leadership and mentorship qualities.


Open to business development responsibilities either through new account origination or upselling, cross selling and account rounding depending on your strengths.

Senior Benefits Consultant and Regional Leader - Dallas, TX

The combination of perks within this role, Vice President, Team Leader and Strategic Benefits Consultant, is very rare to find in an available position at this level. What makes this role so compelling is the starting point you'll come in at.  You will join this firm as the senior practice leader and be directly responsible for the retention, consulting and maturation of a $3MM-$4MM book of business.  This practice is anchored by large, Fortune 100 accounts that will look to you and your team for guidance on strategy, governance, plan design and advocacy on complex group life and health plans. 
Is this a sales role?  It can be particularly if your strengths are in business development however the fact that the current practice is so large is enough for the firm to recognize a true consultant and managing leader is just as valuable to retention and growth as someone who can originate new business.  The key to successfully taking on this challenge is being experienced, very aware of the self-insured challenges of big corporations and having the emotional intelligence to navigate the waters of retaining and servicing key legacy accounts.




Vice President, Senior Benefits Consultant and Regional Leader Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all of the existing accounts in this practice. As the leader, you'll create and present on solutions and valuable resources the firm can provide to national accounts. You will be an integral part of managing the strategy behind the agency's client service platform. Its important that you offer excellent subject matter expertise regarding plan design for self-funded cases, healthcare reform, compliance and other fiduciary oversight.  Additionally, you know how to pull in the appropriate resources at your disposal from compliance and actuarial to wellness, underwriting and account management.
Take the lead on presentations with clients with clear articulation on the firm's value proposition, contributions and accountability you will oversee to ensure a strong business partnership.  Throughout the yearly cycle be involved in escalated client issues, work with Account Executives to manage project plans and build strong alliances with key insurance company and vendor partners.
Work to develop additional business and bring in additional lines of revenue through various plans, fee based services or simply identifying new clients.  The scope of your platform will be national but with a strong concentration in Texas and the Mid-South.


Vice President, Senior Benefits Consultant and Regional Leader Qualifications:
At least ten (10) years of client relationship management, business development and group health consulting experience within an insurance brokerage. 


History of successfully creating business opportunities through the use of multiple practice disciplines include health and welfare, compensation, communication, integrated wellness programs, qualified plans, voluntary benefits and Human Resources consulting.
Active state insurance license.
Exceptional team leadership skills and strategic plan design and management background. Can quarterback channel partnership for the development of middle market and national business.  Can develop sales and marketing plans as well as lead your Account Executive team with guidance and mentoring.

Our client is a growing regional agency in the Atlanta market that is aggressively looking to add a Managing Producer, Employee Benefits to staff in the near future. The ideal candidate is going to be very entrepreneurial and able to get their hands dirty at the outset of a new business development campaign.  There will be an ability to cross sell with existing accounts and work with a team approach to building a burgeoning pipeline.    




Managing Producer, Employee Benefits Responsibilities

Ability to create an aggressive business marketing plan to drive revenue in a 3-5 year period.

Human Resources Consultant, Cincinnati, OH


Our client has an established Human Resources Consulting practice that is growing because so many businesses utilize their services for project management, compliance and strategic employee development. This role, Human Resources Consultant, is an addition to the current team and will serve a diverse group of the firm’s client base including some without sophisticated internal departments that turn to the firm to serve in this capacity.
Human Resources Consultant Responsibilities
  • Work closely with insureds to provide answers to Human Resources inquiries related to providing sample materials, information on employment liability issues and advising on best practices.
  • Handle consulting assignments or special projects for clients. This can involve compliance audits, creation of employee handbooks, compensation analysis and development, employment practices investigations and employee relations initiatives.
  • Work closely with the agency’s producers and client managers to communicate updates on clients and facilitate information sharing on potential revenue opportunities.
  • Help the agency’s internal Human Resources team with team building and morale initiatives, training workshops and recruiting projects.
Human Resources Consultant Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree plus PHR or SPHR designation is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years in Human Resources experience; prior sales and consulting experience is helpful. Most importantly is senior level experience involving issues of program development, project management and consulting.
  • Broad knowledge of Human Resources functions and processes including EEOC, compliance, compensation, benefits and employee relations.

Employee Benefits Producer - Memphis, TN


One of my best clients is looking for a strong sales producer that can build on an existing book of business.   Our client needs an accomplished sales person that is very consultative and has a strong coverage background.  They are seeking someone that is excited by the challenge of the changing group medical landscape and wants to join a like minded organization.  This organization has the resources to work with groups as large as 5,000 lives and has a very attractive growth path and compensation plan.



Our client is an independent insurance agency with unique growth opportunities in its Mississippi benefits division.  As healthcare form continues to take shape the need to expand the agency's benefits footprint has created these opportunities.  Specifically, this role will focus on the perpetuation of the agency's benefits team in Tupelo.  You'll consult with northeast Mississippi businesses with a focus on accounts with 100 employees or more.  As the agency's work in Alabama, Tennessee and Jackson continues to expand you'll be in a great position to partner with your colleagues on split business.  To start off in this role you'll also have some existing accounts in a book of business available for you to assume.  

Employee Benefits Producer Responsibilities:
Organically develop a book of business focused on the 100+ employee segment in northeast Mississippi and parts of Tennessee and Alabama.
Take advantages of the agency's referral sources including existing property and casualty clients, ties to the financial services sector and local business support groups.
Play an active role in ongoing client consulting ranging from participation renewal management to involvement in technology integration, compliance, enrollments and account rounding.

Employee Benefits Producer Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
At least three (3) years of group employee benefits experience; time spent either working in direct sales for a carrier or another independent agency will be considered.
Active state insurance license.
Familiarity with the regional insurance market; natural networks and existing business contacts is an ideal starting point to beginning in this role.
