Our client is a multi-state regional insurance broker that has achieved tremendous success over the past decade but with bigger growth plans on the horizon.  Part of their strategy involves the capitalization of property and casualty business opportunities in Texas.  This position is the first of its kind for the agency.  A commercial producer with experience in the local Dallas/Ft. Worth retail market will be able to take advantage of existing agency platforms in niches like work comp, healthcare and construction as well as serve a critical need in exploiting cross selling opportunities with the life and health practice.

Vice President, Commercial Lines Producer Responsibilities:
  • Sales: First and foremost its critical you can open doors to new business opportunities within the state, mostly specifically though local middle market accounts.  The agency has a risk management platform focused in several niches, so you can target a lot of generalist business as you build your book but from a resource standpoint it would make a lot of sense to look at specializing in a few key verticals over time.
  • Cross Selling: Take advantage of the established employee benefits presence the agency has in DFW.  Work closely with those producers to create a plan of action where you can be referred to those accounts.  Serve as the subject matter expert on commercial lines to those clients.  Develop key underwriting relationships as the regional P&C presence for the agency.

Vice President, Commercial Lines Producer Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred along with at least five (5) years of recent retail agency sales success focused on middle market ($100k-$200k minimum premium accounts).
  • Be able to work autonomously; seek out resources from the corporate office as well as those underwriting relationships that are critical to your success writing Texas based business.

Vice President, Regional Marketing Leader-Statewide, TN

The term “marketing” has many different connotations within the insurance industry, but when it comes to the broker side often roles are black and white between individual contributions and pure management.  The differentiator comes down to how much the marketer is involved in doing deals versus strategic oversight.  This position is really a blend of both duties.  It’s a great opportunity to make an impact in a large portion of the agency’s operating group that handles large middle market and risk management accounts in complex verticals like construction, real estate, healthcare and transportation.  It also establishes a senior management role that will work closely with commercial sales leaders to analyze where profitable business comes from and create a strategy to recreate successful opportunities and even build out new vertical programs.

Vice President, Regional Marketing Leader Responsibilities:
  • Marketing: Serve as the highest point for all regional market activities within this firm’s multi-state operating group.  Work directly with the commercial producers on high level, complex risk management accounts.  Take the approach that deals get done through your involvement and control in specific accounts.
  • Management: Provide necessary training and coordination with marketing and account management specialists in each office in your operating footprint.  Help delegate workloads, troubleshoot account problems and provide direction on marketing options based on the niche industry or location of the account.
  • Run point on carrier relationships.  Must be an excellent communicator and negotiator with markets and seek out innovative program development.  Be intimately involved in the sales process and understand when and where new business opportunities are coming within your sales teams so you can work ahead of the curve on the necessary markets, products and pricing that will be needed.
Vice President, Regional Marketing Leader Requirements:
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive property and casualty brokerage experience with increased responsibilities in marketing leadership for a retail insurance agency/brokerage.  This position is a high travel role supporting at least five distinct operating groups.  You’ll travel 35-40% of the time.

Vice President, Senior Commercial Producer-Statewide, SC

A lot of insurance agencies make the cliche statement, “We’re always looking to hire good producers.” The reality is the very best, most progressive retailers build a business model in the image of national brokerages without losing their regional identity. Capstone’s success in matching experienced insurance producers with this client is because we appreciate at some point it’s not a question of whether a person can sell. Its about bringing together an agency’s business model with a producer’s specialization at the right time for both parties.

In the South we are in a position to introduce you to a retail brokerage client that is aggressively growing in a new way, through the identification and acquisition of experienced specialty producers. The company offers a niche driven model with centralized client service, claims and risk management resources to provide technical support in these verticals. If you’re a producer whose sales success is due to platform specialization we would like to discuss their plans in the following areas:

  • Healthcare/medical malpractice
  • Transportation
  • Energy (oil & gas)
  • Agriculture/agribusiness
  • Real estate
  • Hospitality

Many of these verticals were created because of the ambition of a senior producer. There are opportunities within this company for an incoming producer to create and build a platform. Even if your area of expertise is different from the list above we’d still like to visit with you about a potential match with this client.  Please contact Scott Thompson for a confidential conversation.
