This opportunity is within a fast-growing division of a leading independent agency in the Midwest and one of the largest in the nation.  They are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join their team as a Group Benefits Account Manager.  The ideal candidate is self-motivated, well-organized, and looking for a challenging career opportunity. 


Group Benefits Account Manager Responsibilities:
  • Provide marketing and client services for designated prospects and clients.
  • Independently manage the market submission (RFP) process, secure information to effectively market to all carrier partners, prepare all new and renewal submissions for marketing, request data from insurance companies, review proposals and complete benefit and rate comparison, and communicate strategies with the client.
  • Stay abreast of markets, products, and carrier competitiveness to provide a comprehensive product portfolio to the client.
  • Act as a liaison between the client and insurance companies in order to resolve all normal service issues regarding billing, claims, eligibility, and other customer service issues.


Group Benefits Account Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of applicable experience in a brokerage/retail agency environment.
  • IL Life/Health license required.
  • Experience with self-funded medical plans and an agency management system preferred.
  • Additional designations such as RHU, REBC, and CEBS preferred.

Our client is a well-respected regional insurance agency that has been around for over fifty years.  They have multiple offices throughout Texas and currently have a need for an Employee Benefits Account Manager in their office in San Antonio.  They are seeking a dynamic individual who will support the external customers by providing quality service implementation and delivery, and internal customer service through effective team communication, development, and management. The success of this role is measured by positive internal team development, external customer satisfaction, effective quality service delivery, and overall account retention.

Employee Benefits Account Manager Responsibilities:
  • Review quotes to ensure they match the benefits requested on the RFP and notify the support specialist in the event additional plan designs are required.
  • Choose plan design recommendations and consult with producers as necessary.
  • Review spreadsheets for accuracy and to ensure all documents are included in a proposal.
  • Conduct client enrollment meetings in the absence of the Account Executive or Producer.
  • Educate and encourage utilization of agency’s internal resources.
  • Perform daily client service as main point of contact internally for questions/issues.

Employee Benefits Account Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 3-5 years of progressive account management experience, preferably with an agency.
  • State Life & Health license required.

Employee Benefits Account Manager-Charlotte, NC

A Group Employee Benefits Account Manager in this independent insurance agency will be responsible for working alongside a senior team manager who supports a large client base with a lot of the new groups written by the agency in 2013 as well as the majority of self-funded groups included in this book.  This is an important position that requires a team player with a positive attitude who is able to organize, delegate and tackle projects related to marketing, client management, onboarding, communication strategies and renewals.

Employee Benefits Account Manager Responsibilities:
  • Work with client service team to determine bid and renewal strategy for current accounts.
  • Provide detailed plan design, cost analysis, group demographics and employee census information; handle benchmarking as well as trend and claims history analysis.
  • Prepare RFPs and analyze proposals for premium verification and rate competitiveness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for policy administration throughout the year.
  • Help coordinate marketing and communication materials as well as enrollments and vendor relationships.

Employee Benefits Account Manager Requirements:
  • At least three (3) years of group employee benefits account management insurance experience is required; must have exposure to group medical products and understand the underwriting and sales cycle, implementation of client service strategies and interacted directly with insureds (preferably groups of at least 50-100 employees) to answer questions about plans and work on enrollments and renewals.
  • Strong analytical and financial underwriting background; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a critical.
    State insurance license.
  • This is a salaried position with a full benefits package.  No travel is required.  This is a full time position where the company has some flexibility on work schedules.
