Claims Manager-Western, NY

My client is looking for an experienced Claims Manager to work with a first-class team of claims professionals. My client is a claims adjustment company within their parent which is an innovative, well-established, leading distributor of specialty excess and surplus insurance products and services throughout the Northeastern United States.

Claims Manager Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day claims activities for Personal and Commercial Lines to include: ensuring reserve adequacy, development and compliance to standards, proper and timely settlement of claims and sound adjusting practices are adhered to within the department
  • Manage all litigation involving claims
  • Take an active roll in all current and future large claims, including investigation, notification, negotiations, and settlements
  • Work closely with underwriting to ensure that risk management and loss control techniques are being utilized creating and maintaining a link between loss control, underwriting, and claims, as well as identifying adjusting issues as a result of company forms
  • Develop and maintain a Claims software and database to allow access to previous and current claims information. Calculate loss ratio by producer, underwriter, line of business and company
  • Maintain personal contact and build relationships with the carriers, vendors and other external business partners, including identification of trends and other reporting

Claims Manager Requirements:
  • A minimum of five years of related experience in claims or risk management position(s) for all lines of insurance including: property casualty, personal liability, environmental, and professional liability.
  • Significant leadership skills, with at least 5 years of experience as a manager, director of staff, or other high-level supervisory/leadership role, specifically over a group of claims adjusters and/or service representatives.
  • A New York State Adjuster’s License is required; A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, or another related field is preferred.
  • Significant technological experience as well as significant experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • As a member of the management team, must be able to multi-task and prioritize to control/direct the in-house, day-to-day operations of the claims department, manage all claims-related litigation to ensure interests are properly protected, and complete global/strategic projects and initiatives as assigned.

Work Comp Claims Supervisor – Atlanta, GA

Our client is a TPA that focuses on workers compensation in several niche industries.  They are seeking someone that has a strong workers compensation claims background to step into a supervisory role.  The ideal candidate will have TPA experience as well some management experience as well.  However, they are open to looking at someone that would look at this as the logical next step in their career as well.


Work Comp Claims Supervisor
Our client is a third party administrator (TPA) offering workers’ compensation and professional liability claims service, specializing in self-insurance programs for group associations, risk retention groups and individual self-insured clients. The Claims Supervisor will supervise work comp claims being processed by the company's claims adjusters.

Claims Supervisor Responsibilities:
Supervise all claims activity for the Atlanta branch.
Oversee the process of evaluating claims, establishing reserves and settling disputes.
Conduct reviews of staff adjusters' files; coordinate training; ensure proper case file distribution.

Claims Supervisor Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Professional designation or completion of continuing education is desired.
10+ years of workers compensation claims adjusting experience with roles of increasing management responsibility.
Proficiency in GA state workers' compensation laws.
